Day 1 | Johannesburg

    The time of arrival in the capital of South Africa is scheduled for 2:20 PM. After customs and once the entire group is back together, we will transfer to the hotel and proceed with the check-in.

    After enjoying the hotel’s glamour, you can take a stroll through the fantastic associated surroundings, where you’ll find shops, a casino, and world-class restaurants within a short distance. Dinner will be at your own leisure.

Day 2 | Johannesburg - Komatipoort

    04/11/2023

    In the early morning, we will head to the 4×4 vehicle delivery park. After the technical briefing and distribution of vehicles among the participants, it’s time for the road adventure to begin.

    We will proceed towards Komatipoort, observing the transition of landscapes along the way. We will make a lunch stop midway through the journey and arrive at our destination during the afternoon, where we will take the opportunity to refuel for the following days.

    Komatipoort is a town located at the confluence of the Crocodile and Incomati rivers in the province of Mpumalanga, South Africa. The town is situated 8 km from the Crocodile Bridge Gate entrance of Kruger National Park and only 5 km from the border with Mozambique.

    In the late afternoon, we will check in at the Lodge and experience a true South African Braai in the lodge’s original Boma, accompanied by the fantastic concert provided by the wilderness as night falls.

Day 3 | Kruger National Park

    Entering through the Crocodile Bridge gate, this day is dedicated to visiting Kruger National Park, one of the most important and sought-after parks in Africa. The high density of wild animals includes the Big 5: lions, leopards, rhinoceroses, elephants, and buffalos.

    Hundreds of other mammals make it their home, as well as various bird species such as vultures, eagles, and storks. The mountains, wooded plains, and tropical forests are part of the landscape that leaves no one indifferent.

    Dinner will be at a restaurant in a safe resting area (Olifants Rest Camp) within the park, as will be the overnight stay in bungalows. The name of this area derives from the fact that elephants are frequently spotted here.

Kruger National Park: true wild beauty

Kruger National Park is a gem of South Africa and a must-visit destination for wildlife enthusiasts. Located in the provinces of Mpumalanga and Limpopo, the park is a vast conservation area that harbors an incredible diversity of animals and stunning landscapes.

With an area of approximately 20,000 square kilometers, it is one of the largest wildlife parks on the African continent.

It offers visitors the opportunity to explore a variety of habitats, including savannahs, forests, and winding rivers, which are home to over 140 species of mammals, including the famous Big Five (lions, leopards, rhinoceroses, elephants, and buffalos). Moreover, the park hosts more than 500 species of birds, making it a true paradise for birdwatchers.

Safaris in Kruger National Park provide visitors with the thrill of encountering animals in their natural habitat: majestic lions, imposing elephants, and stealthy leopards.

Day 4 | Kruger National Park

    This day will be dedicated to continuing our exploration of the many impressive sights this reserve has to offer. We will spend the day on safari, making stops to observe wildlife and stunning landscapes, until we reach the northern part of the park by the end of the day. There, we will spend the night at a Restcamp that still preserves the Bungalows discovered in 1934 in this remarkable and magnificent location.

Day 5 | Kruger National Park – Pafuri Frontier – Machaila (wild camp)

    After leaving Kruger National Park in the morning, we will cross the border at Pafuri, one of the most remote in the country, and enter Mozambique. We will then descend along the banks of the Limpopo River to its astonishing crossing, and veer towards Machaila through one of the most remote areas in the interior of Mozambique, with sightings of some villages in their most genuine state and large areas of native vegetation.

    We will set up wild camp at the end of the day, in this breath-taking place in the outskirts of Machaila. It will be a night to remember.

Machaila, in the sacred heart of Mozambique

Machaila is a beautiful locality located in Mozambique, a true hidden treasure in the heart of this African country.

Nature is the main highlight of Machaila. With vast forests, winding rivers, and majestic mountains, it is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Ecotourism enthusiasts can explore stunning trails and discover the diversity of plant and animal species that inhabit the region.

The crystal-clear waters of the Indian Ocean are nearby, providing the opportunity to enjoy stunning beaches and dive into colorful reefs.

The indigenous forests of Machaila, also known as native or indigenous forests, have developed naturally in this location over time without significant human interference. These forests are a reflection of the biodiversity and specific climatic conditions of Mozambique.

Day 6 | Machaila - Mabote – Vilankulos

    Dawn and leaving camp to start another day of great adventure that will end on the coast of the Indian Ocean, passing through the region of Mabote, where we will head towards the coast and Vilankulos, one of Mozambique’s hidden paradises that few people know about.

Day 7 | Vilankulos

    A day of relaxation in the Mozambican paradise of Vilankulos, where we can enjoy a magnificent beach with warm and crystal-clear waters, breathtakingly beautiful landscapes, and incredible tranquility. These serene settings are mostly frequented by local fishermen and children… let’s take pictures and make our friends jealous!

    In addition to swimming in the sea, it is also possible to go diving. Lunch is at your own leisure.

Day 8 | Vilankulos – Inhambane - Tofo Beach

    Departure from Vilankulos in the morning to Inhambane, one of the cities with many preserved traces of Portuguese presence in Mozambique.

    We will then head towards the vast and curved Tofo Beach, one of the best in southern Mozambique, where we will once again be amazed by its natural beauty. After having dinner in this paradise-like setting, we will spend the night, lulled by the sound of the ocean waves.

    The day will be free to discover this amazing beach. For the early birds, you shouldn’t miss the sunrise over the sea, which will provide some incredible photos. Then, it’s all about enjoying the beach, relaxing, and exploring the surrounding area in a completely laid-back atmosphere. Lunch is at your own leisure.

Maputo, city of your dreams

When exploring Maputo, it is impossible not to be impressed by its charming architecture, which blends Portuguese colonial influences with traditional African styles.

The city is blessed with beautiful beaches, such as Costa do Sol Beach and Macaneta Beach, where locals and tourists gather to enjoy the sun and the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.

Maputo’s gastronomy is a true delight for the senses. The city’s restaurants offer a fusion of African, Portuguese, and international flavors, with a highlight on fresh and delicious seafood dishes.

Day 10 | Tofo Beach - Bilene

    12/11/2023

    The day will be on wheels, exploring some trails along the coast and passing through emblematic areas, such as Xai-Xai Beach. We will make some stops, and have lunch halfway through the journey.

    We will call it a day in Bilene, another emblematic destination located in the southern part of Gaza province. We will stay overnight at a resort with direct beach access and a lagoon-style swimming pool.

Day 11 | Bilene – Maputo

    13/11/2023

    After a farewell dive, we will head towards Maputo, entering through Costa do Sol, with an expected arrival in the late morning.

    After lunch, we will check into the hotel and explore the center of Maputo on foot, freely visiting places such as the market, cathedral, train station, botanical garden, etc. Dinner will be at a restaurant in the city center.

Day 12 | Maputo – Eswatini - Matenga

    14/11/2023

    Morning departure towards the Kingdom of Eswatini, formerly known as Swaziland, a country in Southern Africa, with a border crossing and a route through a mountainous area. We will have the opportunity to interact with the Swazi tribe and experience their traditions live at Matenga Cultural Village.

    The day comes to a close with a visit to a magnificent waterfall located within this nature reserve.

    We will continue through the scenic green valley of Ezulwini, heading towards the lodge where we will have dinner and spend the night.

Kingdom of Eswatini, formerly Swaziland

This charming country is located between South Africa to the west and Mozambique to the east. It is a small nation, but it is filled with history, culture, and stunning landscapes.

This peaceful kingdom has a rich cultural tradition. The Swazis, the native people of Eswatini, are known for their warm hospitality and strong pride in their cultural identity. Swazi traditions and rituals are preserved and celebrated through vibrant festivals, such as the famous Reed Dance, where young maidens dance in honor of the king.

    Morning departure towards the capital of South Africa, with a border crossing, lunch halfway through the journey, and expected arrival in Johannesburg by late afternoon, where we will check-in at the designated hotel and have our goodbye dinner.

    Having already checked-out at the hotel, we will return the vehicles and head to the airport, where we will arrive by 2:00 PM. The return flight to Lisbon is scheduled for 4:30 PM (TAAG).
