Day 1 | Lisbon – S. José

    Exit from Lisbon on a schedule to be announced towards San José, capital of Costa Rica. After formalities and issuing vehicles, we will head to the hotel.

Day 2 | S. José – Arenal
  • null

    First contact with nature through a mixed path towards the impressive Arenal volcano, at 1.657m. Its last period of activity took place in 1968. However, it continues to emit constant gases and water vapors with some explosions of pyroclastic materials. In the area surrounding the volcano, we will be able to visit the Cataracts of the Fortuna river and the Cerro Chato with a lake in its crater.

Day 3 | Arenal – S. Elena

    Continuation of the trip towards Santa Elena, center of the Monteverde Region, situated in the Tilarán Mountain Range at an altitude of between 1200 and 1500 meters above sea level. Upon our arrival, we will walk through the Santa Elena Cloud Forest.

Monteverde

The region of Monteverde is one of the most famous protected areas of the New World tropics. So far, there have been identified 400 different species of birds, 490 species of butterflies and 100 species of mammals, some of which are endangered.

Day 4 | S. Elena – Tamarindo

    Visit to the Monteverde Cloud Forest, a private reserve, property of the Tropical Science Center, a scientific NGO from Costa Rica established in 1962. After the visit, we will head the Pacific Coast. Part of the route will be made through tracks and the famous Pan American Highway, up to Tamarindo beach.

    Free day to enjoy the hotel, and make the most of the beautiful beaches and local offer.

Day 6 | Tamarindo - Montezuma
  • null

    This will be an intense day of beautiful tracks and ford river crossings, through the forest and by the coast, discovering hidden deserted beaches up to Montezuma in the Nicoya Peninsula. This small beach is the meeting point for surfers looking for good waves and night life.

Day 7 | Montezuma - Manuel Antonio

    Exit in the morning crossing the Nicoya bay by ferry towards Puntarenas. Route by road up to Manuel Antonio, where is located the Manuel Antonio National Park. It is the most popular destination in Costa Rica due to its combination of dense forest, biodiversity and fabulous beaches that are the ideal habitat for many species of plants and animals. Out of the four beaches that make up this park, the Manuel Antonio beach is the most splendid because of its white sands protecting a coral reef. Sloths, iguanas, peccaries, armadillos, coatimundis and scarlet araras are just some of the many animals that can be seen roaming through the park.

It is the most popular destination in Costa Rica due to its combination of dense forest, biodiversity and fabulous beaches that are the ideal habitat for many species of plants and animals.

The park is located 157 Km south of the city of San José and 7 Km south of the city of Quepos. In 2011, it was featured by the Forbes magazine as one of the 12 most beautiful parks in the world.

Day 9 | Manuel Antonio - Turrialba

    We will leave the Pacific Coast and make way towards the Atlantic Coast. This day offers one of the most exciting paths of the program. In Turrialba, we will stay near the volcanos Irazú and Turrialba.

Day 10 | Turrialba - Puerto Viejo
  • null

    Retaking the path towards the Caribbean coast, one seems to enter a different world. Its spicy food and Afro-Caribbean culture are part of this region in this uniquest of places in Coast Rica. Most people here are Afro-Caribbean, having come from Jamaica and other Caribbean islands to work in the railway construction or the banana plantations. In this area, it is easy to find people in the street playing Jamaican music, reggae, Calypso, as well as delicious Costa Rican food and a confusing mixture of Spanish and English.

Dia 11 | Puerto Viejo

    A day to relax and make the most of the fine beaches of the region, visit Vila de Puerto Viejo and buy some souvenirs.

Day 12 | Puerto Viejo - Bocas del Toro / Panama
  • null

    We will proceed towards the Bocas Del Toro Archipelago in Panama, composed by a great number of island, being some of them inhabited, but most are virgin islands, full of natural attractions and landscapes of a rare beauty. A former refuge for pirates and corsairs, Bocas del Toro is a magical place where you can breathe in nature and history.

    At the end of the day, return to Puerto Viejo.

Day 13 | Puerto Viejo - S. José
  • null

    Return to the capital, S. José, with a possible visit to the city in the afternoon.

Day 14 | S. José - Lisbon
  • null

    Visit to the city in the morning. In the afternoon, handing over the vehicles and boarding the return flight to Lisbon.
